Narrative Theory to Short Film ~ The Ellington Kids
The Ellington Kid ~ Vice Short Film
Equilibrium: The scene starts off in a kebab shop with someone sharpening an knife, which is then used to cut up a piece of meat. This symbolises normality, a shop doing its job.
Significant Event: Two boys, Nathan and Billy sit down and talk to each other whilst having some lunch. Flashbacks begins to occur which show an event happening. A gang of boys stab and rob another boy.
Recognition by Hero: The stabbed boy runs into the kebab shop which makes the gang of boys chase him. The gang of boys threaten the shop owners to give up the stabbed boy.
Attempt to Repair: Shop workers pull out the knives they use to carve the meat and lock the boys into the shop, which prevents them from leaving and turn the sign to "close" so no one enters the shop.
New Equilibrium: The two boys continue eating but imply that the meat one of them is eating is from the boys that stabbed and entered the shop. Making it seem like the shop owners killed, cooked and served them.
